Editors

From time to time, we receive queries from authors who have not had their work edited. They often relate that they don't know where to look for an editor. ChapterByChapter does not offer editing services. Yet we require it before we will evaluate a manuscript. Consequently, if you are interested in offering your editing services, please fill out the form below, including your qualifications in the comment section. We'll look at your credentials and list you on the site if they pass muster. You will deal directly with the author.

Note to Publishers and Agents

We offer a service to authors who have written quality novels, but who have been unable to garner the interest of publishers. Novels that appear here have been professionally prepared and have been judged as quality stories by a board of readers. We do not consider ourselves a vanity press. Authors do not pay us. We pay them – a royalty for each chapter purchased. All text, editing, and art work meet our standards, but are provided by the author. All we offer is a place for them to make their work available to readers and perhaps get a little cash to pay the bills.

We do not intend to compete with traditional publishers. In fact, we hope that if a particular book becomes popular on our site, it might be reconsidered by editors and agents who dismissed earlier query letters. Toward that end, we publish sales statistics and readers' reviews when we get them. If you see a book that has promise, we encourage you to contact the author. We collect no finder's fee or commission. On the happy day that a book receives a contract, we will notify its subscribers that the book is to be published, and give them a limited time to buy the remaining chapters. At the end of this window, the book is removed from the site and a notice posted on our Successes page (with links to the book's and publisher's web sites).
